Desexing removes the sexual urge from both dogs and bitches. Unless you are serious about showing or breeding, desexing is recommended for pet dogs living in an urban environment.

Owners are often tempted to have at least one litter from a bitch. There appears to be a general misconception that having a litter will improve temperament. There is no scientific evidence to support this theory. Breeding is an expensive and time consuming process which requires a lot of hard work. It is not recommended without serious study of the involvement you will be required to give.
