Losing a family pet can be as traumatic as losing a member of family. At The Vet Centre Marlborough, we understand the grief and sadness that can be overwhelming at this time. Although euthanasia is often the best option for the pet, the decision can still feel impossibly hard. Our team of vets, nurses and support staff aim to help owners through this difficult time and offer the following services:
- Houses-calls for euthanasia upon request
- Cremation and return of ashes. This service is performed by Fond Farewells trusted pet-cremation service.
- Other options include burial services and plaques
- Grief counsellor recommendations
In special cases where there has been an ongoing health problem or treatment such as chemotherapy for cancer, we will make a donation of a portion of the euthanasia fee to the New Zealand Companion Animal Health Foundation (NZCAHF), a charitable trust who raise money to fund research into the health and welfare of companion animals.
